Tavira a living historic city
A unique location with special people
A calm place to relax in a special part of Portugal
Tavira is a living city which encourages people to come to stay and enjoy the beauty of it’s structures both new and old. Taste the wonderful flavours of its food and Portuguese wines and mix with the residents themselves who are some of the most hospitable people you could meet
Tavira Beaches are one of the reasons why the Tavira area is so unique. All the beaches are situated on the Tavira Ria Formosa. This means that are located off shore. You have to make a bit of effort to get there. It creates a sense of adventure each time you go and visit one of them.
There are over 30 Churches within the Concelho de Tavira. Many are open to look around and enjoy another side to the history of this city. Some churches such as Igreja da Misericórdia, Ermida da Sao Sebastiao and Igreja do Carmo are used for special musical performances throughout the year
Food and wine
If you hire a car it is very well worth a visit into the Tavira countryside which is full of rolling hills and interesting villages. Santo Estêvão is of interest and Cachopo in the north takes you back in time to a Portugal of yesteryear
